Updated: Sep 23, 2022

We’re excited to announce that we are a winner in the sixth round of the GENIUS NY program - the world’s largest business accelerator for uncrewed aircraft systems (UAS), internet of things (IoT) and robotics industries. We begin the program in Central New York in August as part of a 12 month program. The final will be held on November 3, where we will pitch our technology live before a panel of judges and audience. One team will be awarded a $1 million grand prize investment. The remaining four teams will each receive a $500,000 investment. The program is funded through the CNY Rising Upstate Revitalization Initiative (URI), the region’s award-winning strategic plan to generate robust economic growth and community development.

Dan Sola, CEO, Archangel Imaging, says “We are excited to have been shortlisted as a finalist for the sixth round of the GENIUS NY program. It offers us an opportunity to create a permanent footprint in the US, based out of Syracuse, New York. With a thriving drone ecosystem, fantastic facilities and access to a great support network, the program compliments our technology well and will enable us to build strong and long-lasting partnerships and business in the US”.

Empire State Development Acting President, CEO & Commissioner Hope Knight, said, “These selected GENIUS NY Round Six finalists are ready to take flight, adding to the cohort of forward-thinking innovators that have been drawn to this unique business accelerator competition which is elevating Central New York's unmatched UAS assets and infrastructure."

“We are excited to welcome these teams to Central New York and get to work advancing their business plans and technologies,” said Kara Jones, director of GENIUS NY. “Over the coming year, they will be connected to local businesses for strategic guidance and operational support and be immersed in the tech startup and UAS ecosystems. In addition to high-impact programmatic and business support provided by GENIUS NY, participants will also become more connected to our local community through events and social engagements.” “The fact that each of these GENIUS NY finalists are international teams highlights the strength of the program and the industry’s recognition that Central New York is the single best place to grow your UAS company,” said Robert Simpson, president of CenterState CEO. “In addition to the resources provided by the program these teams will also become part of Central New York’s robust tech ecosystem. We proudly welcome this new cohort to our community and are excited to work with these companies to ensure their companies evolve and grow here.” Since 2017, GENIUS NY has invested $15 million in 26 companies from around the world and brought them to Central New York to participate in the yearlong in-residence accelerator where they receive assistance with product development, business development, as well as networking opportunities with investors and business leaders. GENIUS NY companies have raised more than $100 million in follow-on funding and have created more than 70 jobs in Upstate New York.

Archangel Imaging deploys smart machines alongside people to protect valuable remote assets and at-risk staff. Today’s machines are mostly tools, not team mates. Our technology is retrofitted to make machines smarter, more resilient team mates, independent from infrastructure.  We then integrate best-in-class AI, satellite analytics, robots, drones and IoT into human workflows. These hybrid teams respond faster and more effectively to safety or security threats. The Argonaut™ AI cameras watch for poachers in Africa or potential suicides on the European railways. The Xnaut GENIE navigation units enable any drone to independently navigate and complete missions without GPS signals. Our technology is trusted by commercial and government customers such as Ministry of Defence, Network Rail, European Space Agency and British Transport Police and has been recognized with awards, such as AIConics ‘AI for Good’ award presented at 10 Downing Street.
